من در ریچموندهیل زندگی نمیکردم که به مجید جوهری رای دهم و یا به کاوه شهروز، ولی تمام تلاشم را کردم که تعداد بیشتری از ایرانی ها در انتخابات شرکت کنند. خیلی خوشحال شدم و هنوز هم خوشحال هستم  امیدوارم که سال آینده هم یک نماینده ایرانی در ریچموندهیل داشته باشیم، حتی اگر با نحوه عمل آن نماینده موافق نباشم.

مجید در سال 2016 به گونه ای عمل کرد که هر ایرانی در کانادا این حق را به خودش بده که از ایشان در رابطه با طومار بازگشائی سفارت سئوال بکنه. من یکبار دیگر سئوالم را اینجا تکرار میکنم. قبل از اینهم برای مجید ایمیل زده ام و تا به امروز جوابی از او دریافت نکرده ام.

Dear Majid Jowhari, MP Richmond Hill

I am not a Richmond Hill constituent but the way you acted in 2016 by sponsoring the E-553 Petition regarding the opening of the embassy and re-establishing the diplomatic relations between Canada and Iran allows me to ask you a few questions that I believe are in the minds of many Iranian-Canadians.

You may know that the response of the Minister of Foreign Affairs to the petition has raised again the same old questions that have never been answered by you as its sponsor nor by the president of the Iranian-Canadian Congress, its initiator. You know well that the petition was launched in September 2016, just after the new board of directors of the Iranian Canadian Congress(ICC) took shape. This was just the beginning of the controversy, an unprecedented division in our community and a ferocious confrontation between those who opposed the opening of the embassy and those who were in favour.

The petition was closed in January 2017 with more than 15000 signatures but never presented to the House of Commons. Recently in June 2019, the petition was presented to the parliament by Ms. Laverdiere, MP (Laurier-Sainte-Marie). The response of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Chrystia Freeland, was announced as a disappointment on the ICC Facebook page by the current ICC board of directors. But the questions still remain unanswered.

You may also know that I am accused of defamation in a lawsuit which doesn’t allow me direct communication with all those involved in the initiation of the petition. I would appreciate if you could contact them on my behalf and all others especially, those 16000 who trusted them by signing the petition, and together answer the following questions:

1.         Why the petition was not presented in the parliament after its closure in January 2017?

2.         Why the petition had to be presented by an NDP MP and not by you who sponsored it?
